OCTOBER 10

World Mental Health Day (WMHD) is observed annually on October 10th to promote global mental health awareness, education, and advocacy. The day aims to reduce stigma around mental illness, promote mental health for all and mobilize efforts to support mental health.

World Mental Health Day was first celebrated in 1992, initiated by the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH).

THEME

The 2024 theme for World Mental Health Day is "It is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace". This year's theme highlights the importance of addressing mental health issues in the workplace, recognizing that 60% of the global population is employed and spends a significant amount of time at work. The World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) chose this theme through a global vote, emphasizing the need to make workplaces healthier and more supportive environments.

KEY MESSAGE

1. Mental health is just as important as physical health.

2. 1 in 4 people experience mental illness each year.

3. Mental health support is essential for overall well-being.
